Q: Chris, describe a typical day’s work for you.
My time is divided across several roles. On any given day, I am likely to work on a mix of project and sevice tickets for customers. I also have a Centralized Services role, maintaining and administering NTP’s internal infrastructure and working with our vendors. As one of the more advanced members of our team, I also assist other techs in resolving more complex problems and mentoring where I can.
Q: Which Microsoft Badges do you currently hold?
MTA Cloud Fundamentals 2019
MS-900 Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services
Q: How did receiving the badges improve your working capabilities?
Having worked with the Microsoft 365 suite prior to starting this educational path, I had some foundational knowledge with it. However, I have greatly expanded my knowledge and capability over the last couple of years. I am now working in more complex environments and helping others as they progress through their own educational paths.
Q: Are there any other certifications you hope to gain in the future?
I am currently studying for the “Modern Desktop Administrator Associate” certification. Once complete, I plan to complete the MS-101 Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security exam. This will complete my current learning path and earn me the “Enterprise Administrator Expert” certification. Separately, I plan to start studying for the PL-900 Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals exam.
Q: And finally, if you were stranded on a deserted island that magically had wifi and power outlets, what three tech items would you bring and why?
Gaming PC, Oculus Rift, phone (Galaxy Note 10+). The PC is obviously a multi-tasker. The Rift would allow me to believe I was wherever I wanted to be. The phone is pretty much attached to my hand anyway and it’s where I do most of my browsing, shopping, YouTubing, and Facebooking. I’m not a tablet person but I do like my big phone.
